“Deep, musical and ecstatic- this is music produced with love, a dancer’s passion and a DJ’s understanding of dance ” - Christopher Tubbs (Club 121, Heads Down)
Bio
Aroha Harawira, originally hailing from New Zealand and now making waves in Melbourne, is a dynamic producer and DJ redefining the sonic landscape. Known for her electrifying performances and deep knowledge of music, AROHA’s sets are a fusion of house and techno, infused with elements of breakbeat, electro, footwork, and UK bass, forging a unique and irresistible signature sound. As a solo artist and one half of duo Aroha & Tali, alongside award-winning MC Tali, she's not just a DJ; she's a curator of experiences that leave audiences buzzing.
From her early days as a prime-time radio host including for iconic electronic music station, George FM, to gracing the decks at some of the most prestigious festivals, she has blazed a trail that's all her own. Her magnetic presence and genre-blurring sets have earned her accolades including New Zealand's Best Club DJ and repeat invitations to open for heavyweights like Disclosure.
AROHA's impressive list of performances includes celebrated festivals like Beyond The Valley, WOMADelaide, Let Them Eat Cake, Rhythm & Vines, Northern Bass, and Electric Avenue. She has headlined shows and played parties supporting luminaries like Kaytranada, Ben UFO, Grace Jones, Jazzy Jeff, Dusky, Breakbot, Chase & Status, and many more.
In 2020, AROHA unveiled her debut EP, 'No More Jenga,' an exploration of experimental house, bass, and post-dubstep sounds. The release garnered global attention and airplay from notable platforms, including Triple J and Glasgow Subcity Radio, making her a force to be reckoned with in the electronic music scene.
Following this success, 'No More Jenga - The Remixes' hit the scene, featuring standout reinterpretations by talents Luke Alessi and Tokyo Prose. These remixes received plays by heavyweights including RÜFÜS DU SOL and Dillinja and found their place on Spotify editorial playlists and Top 10 radio spots.
Since then, AROHA has continued to make her mark, releasing remixes for artists like POOLCLVB and Kédu Carlö, as well as original tracks such as “Pūrerehua” and "Escape to Eora Country”, the latter of which was selected by CC:DISCO! for her “Track IDs” Spotify editorial playlist.
AROHA's journey ramped up recently with her debut Boiler Room set at Hidden Valley festival, plus she completed a whirlwind 16-date tour across Australia and New Zealand alongside The Jungle Giants. She also just performed for a 3-week season of the acclaimed World Of Wearable Art shows and graced the UK with sets at famous London clubs including "Lady Shaka and Friends" (Colour Factory) and Heidi's "Hi-Jacked” residency (XOYO).
With new original music and remixes on the horizon and an exciting lineup of shows for the Southern Hemisphere summer ahead, AROHA remains an unstoppable force.
